Streaming Live

No better excuse then our pets for implementing streaming video.

Anyway, reptiles don't have a reputation for increased activity, but if my server is up and running, there is a chance you will catch our stinkers going about their business.

I may drop a feed or two to conserve bandwidth but on weekdays between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. EST, I should have the cameras pointing at someone.

Camera Angles

In the morning I'll point the camera at a random cage. They are not fixed, and Rascal knocks them around because he tries to scale everything. You may access a camera that's been knocked on its side or pointing at a bizarre location.

I try and put two cameras on one of them so that, for example, if Rascal walks out of his cage, the second camera will be focused on another location I know he goes to. I installed two brackets in Bobo's cage so I can have two cameras covering the entire cage. That way you can always see him unless he buried himself under the newspaper.

I'm trying to perfect this whole thing so bare with me if you're tuning in.

Schedule

The range and activity can differ depending on who the camera is pointing at.

UV Lights On: 7:00 - 7:45 a.m.
Move to basking area to heat up.

Feeding: 7:45 - 8:30 a.m.

Basking: 8:30 - 10:00 a.m.
Heating up in the morning.

Basking Break: 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
They move away from the lights.

Highest Activity Level: 12:00 - 2:00 p.m.
Combination of basking and foraging around the habitat.

Basking Break/Daytime Nap: 2:00 - 5:00 p.m.

Home Welcome/Awake from Nap/Begging for Food: 5:00 - 6:00 p.m.
Me & Mindy come home from work between 5 & 5:30.

Play Time: 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.
Individual mom & dad quality/play time outside of their cage.

UV Lights Off: 7:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Secondary non-UV/low heat spots are on a manual switch I eventually turn off before bed or whenever. By this time they are all sleeping so if the server is still up, don't bother viewing.
